Bank Independent Fall 2022 Interns (left to right):  Javia Warner, Anna Stokes, and Tabitha Thomas

Tabitha Thomas:

Tabitha Thomas is a marketing student at the University of North Alabama. She is a senior and is set to graduate in May 2023. Tabitha recently completed an internship in the marketing department at Bank Independent. She is originally from Huntsville, Alabama. Throughout her college career, Tabitha has demonstrated a strong passion for marketing and has gained valuable experience through her internship. She is excited to graduate and begin her career in the field.

Hear about her internship experience in her own words:

Coming into this internship I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the team or they would realize I don’t know every single term in my field. Going into my first few meetings I was super nervous that they would regret their decision or would think I was too quiet and wouldn’t mesh on the team well. After the first couple weeks, I realized that not only did everyone not know everything from college, but they wanted me for my brain, ideas, and creativeness. They liked me enough in my interview to take me in and let me express my ideas. They listened to me, gave me projects to own, valued my opinion and made me a feel a part of a great team. Being in school was just the cherry on top! Taking this internship also made me realize how important a positive work culture is and how that can impact your job.

The importance servant leadership and collaboration amongst teams. I know many of you feel that anxiousness of going into the real world after graduation. I strongly suggest applying for an internship and getting that experience before entering the job market. It’ll not only help ease that nervousness but will give you the experience you’re looking for. The bank has your best interest in mind and wants you to succeed in your position. This team took a chance on me and I’m forever grateful for this opportunity. This internship has given me real life perspective and experiences that have helped in furthering my career goals and eased my past nervousness.
