For the past 12 years, Bank Independent has hosted the Food Share drive to help fight food insecurity in our communities. Last year, the initiative expanded to include the Family Share component, collecting not only non-perishable food items but also baby diapers to support local families in need. ![Food-Share-Facebook-Header-Email](https://blog.bibank.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Food-Share-Facebook-Header-Email.jpg?width=600&height=303&name=Food-Share-Facebook-Header-Email.jpg)“Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of people that are in the communities we serve. Certainly, we want to provide excellent financial products and services, but we also want to find ways to meet the everyday needs of our community members,” says Macke Mauldin, CEO of Bank Independent. “Food and Family Share is dedicated to addressing food insecurity and the necessary care of families in our community. Whether you can drop off diapers or food items at your local Bank Independent location or take a moment to donate monetarily to the drive, we’ll ensure your donations make a positive difference in your community.” Monetary donations will be accepted via PayPal, making it easier than ever for community members to contribute. In addition, Bank Independent locations will collect diapers and non-perishable food items until April 24th. Bank Independent is also excited to announce that we will have a Collection Day on April 24th at several local stores across our footprint. More details will be provided about Collection Day on our website at [hhfal.org](http://www.hhfal.org) and on our social media pages closer to time. The 2025 Food and Family Share drive was a remarkable success, collecting and distributing $2,563 in cash donations, and shipping 1085 items directly to our partners. Since its inception, Food Share has collected and donated 47,560 items and has had a total impact of $203,274. Bank Independent partners with local organizations across its seven-county footprint to ensure that donations are distributed to area families in need. This year, donations will be distributed through The Help Center in Lauderdale County, Meal Barrel of Colbert County, DHR of Franklin County, DHR of Lawrence County, DHR of Limestone County, Neighborhood Christian Center in Morgan County, and Downtown Rescue Mission and Manna House in Madison County.
