Bank Independent Promotes Four Team Members to Officer Roles

Bank Independent is proud to announce the promotion of four team members who support key internal banking functions to officer roles: Macy Gooch, Becky Hughes, Tyler Martin and Justina Weston. These promotions recognize their leadership, expertise, institutional knowledge and commitment to supporting the bank’s mission of making a positive difference in the lives of team members, customers and communities.

Macy Gooch has been promoted to Officer – Assistant Controller. Since joining Bank Independent in 2019 as a part-time Teller, Gooch has progressed through roles of increasing responsibility, including Accounting Intern, Accounts Payable Clerk, Accountant and Senior Accountant. A Certified Public Accountant, she holds both a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy from the University of North Alabama. Gooch is also continuing her professional development through the Alabama Banking School.

Becky Hughes has been promoted to Paralegal/Loan Processing Officer. Hughes joined Bank Independent in 1996 as a part-time Teller while in college and has since served in several key roles, including Loan Assistant, Legal Support and Centralized Loan Processing. She was instrumental in helping establish the bank’s centralized processing department and brings nearly three decades of institutional knowledge to her role. Hughes holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and business, as well as a Paralegal degree, from the University of North Alabama.

Tyler Martin has been promoted to Applications Services Officer. Since joining Bank Independent in March 2021, Martin has built a strong track record in application support and collaboration, earning this promotion through his technical expertise and commitment to serving internal teams. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from the University of North Alabama.

Justina Weston has been promoted to Payroll Officer. Weston brings nearly two decades of experience with the organization and has built a strong foundation through progressive roles across accounting, human resources and payroll. Since joining the bank in 2007, she has served as an Accountant and later advanced through positions including HR Generalist, Senior HR Generalist and HR Team Lead before stepping into payroll leadership. Her promotion reflects her strong operational knowledge, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, compliance and team member experience.
