Compton brings over 30 years of capital markets and operational experience, offering strategic insight and financial leadership to his new role at the bank. ![Adam Compton](https://blog.bibank.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Adam%20Compton.jpg?width=400&height=600&name=Adam%20Compton.jpg)"Adam’s deep expertise in financial services, combined with his strategic thinking and experience in banking, will be invaluable to Bank Independent as we continue to grow and innovate,” Bank Independent CEO Rick Wardlaw said. “His leadership will ensure that we remain well-positioned to serve our customers with excellence." Compton most recently served as Head of MWM Asset Management for Rockefeller Capital Management’s office in Atlanta, overseeing $1.9 billion in assets. He was responsible for investment, risk management, and business operations within the multi-family office group. Previously, Compton held the role of Managing Director & Portfolio Manager at GMT Capital Corporation, where he spent nearly a decade managing global financial services investments. His broad experience includes serving as Head of Financial Research Services at Allianz Global Investors and as a bank regulator for the State of Florida during the banking crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. He has also sat on two bank boards throughout his career. "We are thrilled to welcome Adam to our leadership team,” said Macke Mauldin, President of Bank Independent. “His vast experience across financial sectors and his commitment to risk management align perfectly with our mission to provide sound, thoughtful financial services to our community. We look forward to the positive impact he will bring." Compton holds an MBA with a concentration in finance and accounting from Cornell University and graduated cum laude from Houghton University, where he minored in Economics and Political Science. He was also a member of the Investors Technical Advisory Committee at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), where he advised on key revisions to accounting rules, including changes to bank loan loss reserves following the Global Financial Crisis. “I’m truly honored to join Bank Independent, where the commitment to community and exceptional customer service is at the core of everything we do.” Compton said. “There is a great history and culture at this bank that I intend to both honor and build on, but I particularly see a great future and I look forward to applying my experience to further strengthen its financial stability and foster strong, but sustainable growth. Managing the growth and future of Bank Independent, while supporting its dedicated team members and the communities they serve, is both a profound responsibility and one of the greatest privileges of my career." Beyond his professional achievements, Compton is deeply involved in charitable work, volunteering with organizations like Second Helpings Atlanta, the Central Presbyterian Night Shelter, and the NAOMI House for Native American children.
