The 11th annual Helping Hands Foundation and Bank Independent School Share drive conducted from July 1 through July 19 contributed a total of $3,109 in cash and an additional 1,322 school supply items to local partner organizations.
"We've tried to make it more convenient for people to give and make a positive difference in their communities,” said Hallie Mauldin, Bank Independent Community Engagement Leader. “By providing easy and accessible ways to contribute, we empower our customers, team members, and community members to actively participate in the growth and support within their local areas. We will continue to look at ways that allow our community to be more involved, ensuring that our efforts make a lasting impact where it matters most."
Monetary donations were accepted via PayPal and Venmo, making it easier than ever for community members to contribute. In addition, a special collection day was held on July 19th at two Walmart locations: Cloverdale Road in Florence and Highway 72 in Madison. In the last 11 years, the School Share Drive has made a financial impact of $332,749.38 in the communities the bank serves.
"School Share has been a remarkable success, showcasing the power of community support in raising funds and collecting essential school supplies for local kids,” said Rick Wardlaw, CEO of Bank Independent. “Through the generosity our community members, we've been able to provide students with the tools they need to thrive academically. This initiative highlights the incredible impact we can achieve when we come together with a common purpose, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed. It's a testament to our collective commitment to investing in the future of our children and the strength of our community."
Bank Independent partners with local organizations across its seven-county footprint to ensure that donations were distributed to area families in need. This year, donations were distributed through Sidney's Safe in Lauderdale and Colbert County, DHR of Franklin County, DHR of Lawrence County, DHR of Limestone County, Committee on Church Cooperation in Morgan County, and Free 2 Teach in Madison County.

About Helping Hands Foundation
Bank Independent's Helping Hands Program was founded in 2011 following the devastating April 27 tornado outbreak. The foundation includes community involvement, team member volunteer initiatives, and annual share drives held throughout the year.
