I originally heard about the internship program through an email I received from the University of North Alabama where I am currently enrolled.
I am hoping to gain greater knowledge in my career field and valuable experience to better prepare myself as I begin my career. I have learned so much, but the biggest thing has been teamwork. This team is remarkably close and is willing to help with anything and everything. That was foreign to me, so I had to adjust and learn that being there for your team creates an environment where you feel comfortable and confident all while getting things done efficiently.
My advice would be to keep an open mind. There have been a few times when I was given a task that I wasn’t confident in myself to perform, but I did the project and ended up with a new experience and praise from my team! The application was super easy. I completed it on the Bank Independent career page on their website. Human Resources then contacted me a few days later and conducted my interview about two weeks after I applied. The interview was nerve-racking of course but very casual compared to interviews I’ve had in the past. It was with two team members in my department and lasted about 20 minutes. This internship has given me a terrific opportunity to get a look into the world of Marketing before I go out and start my career.
