Sheffield, Ala.− Wednesday, August 28, 2019 – Bank Independent has been named the 2019 Large Business of the Year in the Shoals Chamber Business Excellence Awards. Bank Independent was nominated and chosen among a field of six local businesses employing more than 50 employees. The Large Business of the Year award recognizes a business that has a significant impact on the Shoals area through community efforts and economic growth.

The Shoals Chamber Business Excellence Awards recognizes and honors local businesses that consistently exhibit professional excellence. Nominees were submitted to the Shoals Chamber in July for consideration. Winners were selected by a chamber of commerce in Alabama of similar scope and size to the Shoals Chamber.

The Business Excellence Awards are divided into seven categories: Family-owned, Business Start-up, Shoals Impact, Woman-owned, Minority-owned, Small Business and Large Business. Presented by Sheffield Utilities, the Shoals Chamber of Commerce honored the seven category winners and multiple nominee at its 2019 Business Excellence Awards ceremony at the Ritz Theatre in Sheffield on August 14, 2019.
