Mobile deposit is an in-app banking feature which allows a bank customer to deposit checks into an account directly from a mobile device. Bank Independent offers mobile deposit as a free, built-in feature that comes with Sync mobile banking. Although mobile deposit is a technology which has been available for many years, not every mobile banking customer is aware of the perks that come from adopting this robust feature. Here are just a few!
1. Mobile Deposit is convenient.
When Bank Independent says that your convenience is our priority, we really mean it. We were one of the first banks in our area to offer Saturday and extended banking hours. Our local customer service team is available by phone Mondays through Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to answer your calls. Our 29 convenient locations are spread across the seven counties we serve. And our Sync online and mobile banking brings 24/7 convenience directly to your device.
Even with convenient local offices and extended banking hours, sometimes there is just not enough time in the day to conduct your banking business. Mobile deposit allows you to deposit checks to your account anytime and anywhere, without trips to the bank to fill out deposit slips, all from the convenience of your mobile device.
2. Mobile Deposit is Easy.
If you can take a photo from your mobile device, you can deposit a check with Sync mobile deposit. The process is simple and similar to how you would process a traditional deposit. Review the check and look for any inaccuracies from the check presenter. Endorse the back of the check, which means inscribing the back of the check with your signature. A great habit is to include the phrase “For Mobile Deposit Only” below your signature.
Log into Bank Independent’s Sync Mobile Banking app on your phone, select “Deposit check” from the menu, and press the "Deposit a Check" button. Enter the amount of the deposit and select “Continue.” Select the account that should receive the deposit. Then take a picture of the front and back of the check. If your deposit is successful, you'll receive a "Success!" message. If you have additional checks, no problem. Just follow the same process for each additional check.
3. Mobile Deposit is Reliable.
After you deposit your check, you will receive a notification that the check has been submitted. There is not a deposit limit for mobile deposit, however, all deposits are subject for review and/or final approval. Just like checks deposited at Bank Independent sales offices, every Sync mobile deposit is reviewed by a Bank Independent banker.
Mobile Deposits completed prior to 8:00 p.m. Central Time on a business day (Monday through Friday), will generally receive credit for the deposit on your account on the same business day. Please note that all deposits are subject to review and/or final approval by the Bank.
There is no need to bring a check to the bank after submitting the deposit. Your deposit has been completed. We do recommend you keep the check for 30 days or until you receive your monthly statement to confirm the deposit and then destroy the check securely by shredding it.
4. Mobile Deposit is Secure.
Sync mobile banking is a secure app which provides strong security measures. Sync provides login and login authorization, encryption of transmitted data, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection requirement, and two-factor authentication. Additionally, no images you upload through Mobile Deposit are stored to your mobile device.
You can create an even more secure user experience when you establish multi-factor authentication. You can also ensure the apps integrity by updating the app as new security features become available as well as maintaining software updates to your mobile device.
